TEFL teacher

Well, I survived the weekend and am now a qualified TEFL teacher, whatever that actually means. I've been inspired to get back into a teaching environment so hope to be focussing my travels on TEFL work, paid or voluntary, in the coming months.

The course was fantastic and I met loads of lovely people from all walks of life. I would certainly recommend doing a short weekend TEFL course if you are possibly thinking about doing any voluntary work whilst travelling abroad. My course was with i-to-i and they hold weekend courses in many locations throughout the UK.

Studying English!!

Help. I'm currently at the local library putting some precourse study in for my weekend TEFL (teaching english as a foreign language) course starting tomorrow. Don't know how my brain will cope with concentrating for 11 hours tomorrow and 9 hours on Sunday!! Will look forward to a pint of Welsh beer afterwards. As soon as I have my certificate I will be heading back to Latin America until Christmas I think, so keep checking the blog for updates.
Wish me luck for the morning!

Zoe and Steve's Wedding, 5th August 2006

The big day finally arrived and it was well worth travelling home for. The sun was shining, the wedding ceremony at Queen's college cambridge was beautiful, the pimms fuelled journey on the open top tour bus to the hotel was fantastic, and the wedding reception was exceptional. As for the bride, she looked stunning and I think everyone would agree that both Mr and Mrs Andrews were a very happy couple.

Hen weekend in Barcelona

Delayed at Stansted..yes we hit the bar at 9.30 am!!

Some of the wierd architecture around Barcelona

Had an absolutely fantastic weekend with Zoe and her friends in Barcelona. It is such a great city with so much to see and do. Of course, being a hen weekend, quite a lot of sight seeing was revolved around the night life of the city.

After a 7 hour delay at Stansted thanks to good old Easyjet, we got going to our destination. We stayed at Hotel Lleo which was right next to Las Ramblas. The others met Zoe, Anna and myself off the plane and had sorted everything out back at the hotel, so when we arrived it was a quick change, glass of bubbly and off for an exciting evening of celebrations down at the Olympic village area by the marina. Say no more about that night ;-)

Sunday was spent recovering from the excitement of the night before and the open top bus tour was the best way to see Barcelona. Fantastic sunbathing potential too so everyone happy. Lots of tapas and more sangria followed in the evening, although a little less rowdy than Saturday night.
We couldn't pass the opportunity for a day on the beach and so before flying home Monday night, we sunned ourselves and swam in the med.
It was a great girly weekend and a perfect city which I would love to go back to and be a proper tourist in!

It was just all too much for some people!
